An NFT (Non-Fungible Token) is a unique digital item stored on the blockchain. It proves ownership of something digital like art, music, videos, or game items. Unlike Bitcoin, NFTs are one of a kind and cannot be exchanged equally.
CryptoKitties is one of the first famous NFT projects. It is a blockchain game where people buy, collect, and breed digital cats. Each cat is unique and owned by the player as an NFT. This project helped make NFTs popular and showed how NFTs can be used in games.
When I first found out about NFT, I asked; “Can’t I just take a screenshot, why are people even buying something already dijital?”. It made no sense. However I decided to dig deep into this topic and quickly grasped it. Now I really understand why people buy them. I realized that those limited edition collections I wanted to buy in roblox when I was a kid, was NFT itself. This is super popular on online games, since people who like to collect rare skins or emotes obsessively invest on these tokens or NFT’s. When I first encountered CryptoKitties I really wanted to buy one. Something about it just felt so welcoming and I wanted to own one of them.
The creators really thought visionary while creating the kitties. The way how they portrayed all of the kitties are so critical. They knew how to grab peoples attentions. Through empathy. The creators knew something most NFT creators who failed didn’t know. They used the tool empathy to make people buy their NFT’s. In CryptoKitty, all the kitties have certain personality traits and their own names, looks. People check all the kitties one by one to find their match and pick the one who is most related to them. After buying the kitties, breeding them is also available in their site. The feeling of “owning” a CryptoKitty is something like owning a rare toy, but cannot be held by hand. But people who collect stuff love this, and that is how NFT was born in the first place. No investment required, no starting cash, straight up bussiness.
So, how does it work? To begin, you must be at least 18 years old; however, it is possible to operate under a parent’s name if needed. It is important not to use your personal name and instead establish a distinct name for your brand or business. The first steps involve creating an account on MetaMask, followed by setting up an account on OpenSea. This stage is often the most challenging part of the process. After that, success depends largely on consistency and discipline. You create NFT collections designed for people to purchase, with each collection containing multiple volumes, followed by the development of new collections over time. These collections should carry clear meaning and intention rather than being based on random ideas. It is essential to think from the perspective of a buyer and ask yourself why someone would choose to purchase your NFT. There must be a clear reason and value behind it. If you would personally consider buying your own product, then the concept likely has potential. Once a strong theme and concept are established, you can begin creating your NFTs and pricing them accordingly. Over time, as more people become aware of your work and products, your NFTs may increase in value.
While exploring what I could create, I developed a niche concept that I have not yet seen widely explored. I aim to design interior furniture centered around distinct concepts and themes. One example is the Living Interiors Collection, which I envision as my first NFT release. This collection will be inspired by living creatures and their lifestyles. Through detailed research into their behaviors, habitats, and traits, I will translate these characteristics into interior objects, furniture pieces, and architectural forms. Another concept I am considering is the 2100 Project, which will focus on speculative design for the future, featuring themed volumes such as Lighting in 2100 or Kitchen Objects in 2100. These ideas represent my interest in combining research, design, and imagination, and I plan to bring them to life in the near future through my NFT projects.
