My First Field Exploration

Two years ago, I had a chance to visit a very special place; it was a project site in Bolu, Turkey. Even though I was younger then, that visit still remains one of the most vivid memories about my early architectural journey. The reason why I remember it so vividly is because it was my first time viewing a project site in my life. It was a mountain house designed by my parents. That day, changed my perspective of looking into architecture.

At first, the house was all woods, steel and dust. Looking bare and obscure. For a very long time the building stayed the same, and looked like nothing was changing for days. I couldn’t help myself but wonder why it took so long for the building to start looking like an actual building. However as time passed, I started noticing some changes. The walls started to appear, the structure started to reveal and in a blink of an eye the first-bare and confusing structure was now a frame for the forest, capturing light in every corner. It was as if once bare project had slowly come to life.
